Seth Horn grew up in the San Lorenzo Valley and has always had a passion for the local wildlife of the Santa Cruz Mountains and Monterey Bay. He has a broad academic and work background with lots of experience with many different types of animals. Seth studied marine biology and oceanography at City College of San Francisco; holds an A.S. in Veterinary Technology from Carrington College; and is studying Spanish language and culture at Cabrillo College. In addition to his work at Westside, Seth has also worked with avians, reptiles, pocket mammals and a variety of wildlife in emergency, shelter and general practice hospitals over the past decade in Santa Cruz and San Francisco.
A native of Santa Cruz who spent his 20′s in San Francisco, Seth loves to be in the great outdoors. He enjoys running and backpacking in Big Basin, Henry Cowells, and Land of the Medicine Buddha. In addition to his regular hobbies: biking, surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding and marathon running, Seth dreams of backpacking and scuba diving in Colombia and Peru. He even has exotic food favorites: Chicken Mole at El Jardin and Strawberry Peppercorn or Honey Cap Mushroom Ice Cream at Penny’s Ice Creamery.
Of course, Seth has unusual pets who inspire him. His two cats are named ‘Scurvy Jack’, a 16 yr-old diabetic Tabby and ‘Beets’ a 4 yr-old rescue. who inspired Seth’s passion in the Veterinary field. Seth also has an African Fat-tailed gecko named Rusty and a Colombian Red-tailed Boa named Kaa. His favorite You Tube Video is “Dog Boarding”.
Seth is aspiring to work in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation with large exotic cats in South Africa or South America.
